What methods of payment can I use?
We accept both credit card and cash payments for your vehicle hire. Make your booking today and enjoy a seamless payment experience.
Do you hold a security deposit to hire the vehicle?
Yes, we hold a payment of 1-day rental before you collect the vehicle. The remaining balance is due on collection, with any additional charges taken after the vehicle inspection on return.
What documents do I need when collecting my vehicle?
You'll need a current driver’s license and a credit card. If you have a non-Australian license, please provide a second ID, such as a passport.
What age do I need to be to rent a vehicle?
To hire a 4x4 vehicle with NT 4x4 Hire, you must be at least 25 years old and hold a full, unrestricted driver’s license for more than 24 months.
What's your refund policy?
Please ensure you select the correct hire period, as no refunds are given. The security deposit of one-day rental is still charged.
How do I amend or cancel my booking?
For booking amendments or cancellations, please call us at +61 8 8941 1199 or email bookings@nt4x4hire.com.au.
Where is the pickup/drop-off point?
You can collect your 4x4 rental vehicle at our Winnellie office, just 2.5 km from Darwin International Airport:

Do I pay for fuel?
You are responsible for the fuel used during your hire. We provide a full tank and expect the vehicle to be returned with a full tank. If not, a charge of $5.00 per litre will apply.
Do you hire baby and booster seats?
We offer baby and booster seats (subject to availability) as part of your booking. The hiring driver is responsible for fitting the seat correctly.
What times are you open?

For out-of-hours service, please contact us, and a fee may apply.
Can I collect and return my vehicle after hours?
Yes, after-hours vehicle collection and returns can be arranged. Contact us in advance to make arrangements, with a potential additional fee.
What do I do in an event or accident or collision?
In an emergency, call 000. For further assistance, call us at +61 8 8941 1199, and we’ll guide you through the process.
What happens if the rental is stolen?
If your vehicle is stolen, please report the theft to the police and notify our office immediately.
Will I be charged for kilometres driven?
No, we offer unlimited kilometres on your hire, so you can explore the Northern Territory without limits.
Do I pay a late fee for a later return?
If you need to return your vehicle later than expected, please let us know as soon as possible. We can assist with an extension, but a late fee may apply.
What are your rental boundaries? How far can I travel?
You’re free to travel across the Northern Territory with unlimited kilometres as long as you stay within our rental agreement’s boundaries.
Are your rental cars new?
Yes, we offer the latest models of Toyota LandCruiser Prados, maintained to the highest standards to ensure your safety and comfort.
Do you have automatic or manual cars for hire?
We offer Toyota LandCruiser Prados for hire, and all of our vehicles are automatic and 4WD, ideal for exploring the Northern Territory's diverse terrain. The Toyota Prados are equipped with all the necessary features for a safe and comfortable journey.
